Exporting a Physique'd Mesh from Max into Bethesda Softworks Morrowind

I have been asked a few time how do you physique a chest piece in Max for export to Morrowind . Please note, this tut is specifically for Max 4.x.  Max version 5.x will not properly export physique'd meshes using this method.

Meshes which still do not show up in game should be exported to a neutral format ( lightwave .obj format works well) and re-imported as 3ds files then re-physique'd since Max seems to never forget the original mesh scale and x,y,z coordinates causing the infamous invisible chest glitch with physique'd meshes.  The mesh is there however it is actually above the local space of the character and therefore will not appear in-game.

 Morrowind Max Tutorial

This following  tutorial does not go into the complexities of using Max.  It does explain how to properly align a chest piece, from scratch. It will help you align and use the proper physique method compatible with Morrowind. This same method can be applied to custom chest armors and clothing.
